THE BIRTH OF NPOW
(NamaBC Presence On The Web).

Influenced by the work of Mr.Precy Ordinario ME'74 and PRO of Southern California Mapua Alumni for 1997-1998, and being the newsletter editor of NAMABC, I mentioned to Joe Pante and Victor Dalisay the need of the newsletters to be on the net.

Joe and Victor enthusiastically accepted the challenge and spent the whole Christmas holiday of 1997 studying all about HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). While Joe and Victor were learning the ropes of webpublishing, I requested the assistance of Precy to put NAMABC on the net and he published NAMABC's original Homepage on November 30, 1997. The original homepage was gradually modified to reflect the changing moods of NAMABC.

We wish to thank Mr. Precy Ordinario for paving the way on our presence on the web. Mr Edgar Frondozo, President of International Association of Mapua Alumni - Ontario (1997-1998) gave also invaluable advice about webpublishing. Joseph Yu registered me to Geocities and subsequently all NAMABC's file were transferred from Precy's homepages to my space at Geocities. Joseph facililated the conversion of the old newsletters to HTML format. He had been active in maintaining our webpages together with Joe and Victor

Joe and Victor's initiatives far exceeded my original expectation of publishing NAMABC's newsletters on the web. They inspired me to reach out for more members to get involved on the net. Joe brought up the idea of presenting MAOL to the association as a subsidiary similar to the golf club. The proposal was presented to the executive officers on January 8, 1998 and to the general membership on Jan 23rd, and both bodies accepted the proposal.

As the computer project continued to widen in scope, other members came forward to get involved. Romy Pareja was given the responsibility to enhance all the graphics, while Digno Vibat and Chito Jambalos worked together on putting the membership profile on the web.

On November 24, 2001 NAMABC embarked in a more structured approach in website publishing. To enable the members update their own database and thereby lessen the load of the webmasters, the association opted to choose hostmysite.com to host our website with advance webhosting and adopted namabc.org as our domain name. Our site has Active Server Pages (ASP) which is a server-side scripting environment that you can use to create dynamic Web pages or build powerful Web applications.
