NAMABC Fall & Winter 2002 Bowling Tournaments

We had 2 bowling tournaments that were held on September 7, 2002 and November 23, 2002 at Xcalibur bowling lanes.

Our very special thanks to Julius Lardizabal who again organized and ran all of our 3 bowling tournaments this year.

Our 3rd bowling tournament for the year 2002 was held at Xcalibur Bowling Lanes on November 23. There were 35 members and guests who played bowling, and 50 members and guests who attended the dinner-karaoke event after the bowling. There were 4 people per team and teams were divided into 8 bowling lanes. We had 7 ladies: Che-che de Sequera, Deck Agustin, Lissa Bentley, Vilma Lardizabal, Myra Cabalfin, Mimi Tinio and Rexy Tan who joined the guys in playing bowling. Everybody played a good game; however, as we always say, it is not the scores that count but how much you enjoy the game and each other’s company. The winners were announced and presented their awards at the Annual Christmas Party on December 7, 2002.

Dinner and Karaoke

After the bowling, we had dinner and karaoke at the upstairs lounge. As usual, Angel and Fe Alcos were our karaoke hosts. This time we had brand new singers, such as Che-che and Rod DeSequera who sang a good duet, Myra Cabalfin, Digno Vibat, Dexter Tarampi and Oscar Asuncion who showcased their singing talents. Again, there was a contest between the men’s and ladies’ groups to sing alternately. The ladies only had Fe to represent them at the start; however, they soon found their nerves and sang group songs after a few margaritas and nachos. The male singers had the regulars: Bert Samson, Eric Factor, Ramon Santos and Angel Alcos. Eddie Alfonso, Rolly Pareja, Ver Abarca and others were forced to sing after much cajoling from the men … well, thanks to all that beer which oiled their vocal chords and helped them get over their stage fright.

One of our newest members, Lissa, and her husband, Rob Bentley, enjoyed the fun-filled afternoon bowling and evening dinner, singing and dancing. We encourage other new members to join us at our next bowling tournament to meet your fellow alumni and join in the fun. We also hope that more of our NAMA ladies will join us in bowling next time as it is fun and an excellent form of exercise too.

Sam and Gloria Quinones joined us late in the evening as they had a party to attend that day.
