A year after the founding of our association, several major events had taken place. It is a sure sign of growth and harmonious relationship within our organization. In this issue of our newsletter, we are highlighting these events that made NAMA what it is today:

   * May - June 1994: With 15 members, the association's constitution and by-laws were drafted and interim officers were elected. During this period membership continued to expand.

   * July 1994: NAMA’s first pot lock gathering was held at Bear Creek Park in Surrey attended by more than 30 members with their families and friends.

  * September 1994: With membership numbering more than 40, the first General Meeting was held and the Executive Officers and Area Coordinators were elected.

SPRING DANCE
By:  Greg Narciso

The NAMA spring dance, which was held on May 13, was a success. This was mainly due to the enthusiasm and dedicaton of the members and officers alike. The Kensington's main gymnasium was almost filled to capacity with a total of 215 guests attending out of the 250 tickets distributed.

Several members sacrificed their time to make this gathering a memorable one. One of our members provided the music. Our basketball team smoothly operated the bar with the skillfull direction from Nap Santos. Our ladies made sure that tickets for the entrance and the drinks were taken cared of.
The event also afforded the members to get to know more about other member's family and gave the chance to meet new friends as as well as old acquaintances.

The executive committee would like to extend their heart-felt appreciation to every body who in one way or another contributed their time and talent to make this affair a success.

BASKETBALL

The NCAA spirits come to life with the scheduled games among four teams from Ateneo, La Salle, Mapua and San Beda. Our president, Digno Vibat, is heading the committee coordinating the games.

Based from the previous years, the turnout of fans attending the final games was always encouraging. This year, with the addition of the Mapua team, the organizers are even more upbeat and expecting better attendance.

To defray their expenses, the teams are selling tickets for a minimal cost of $5.00. We are encouraging the members to be at the finals to support and and cheer our team. Please wear your Mapua Shirts when attending the games. Tickets are available from Digno Vibat and the basketball players.

GOLF

Our first golf game for beginners was held at Sunshine Woods Golf Centre in Delta. Sixteen golf enthusiasts enjoyed 18 holes of par 3 while first time golfers shared excitements and found out that even par 3 might need more than five strokes to bring the ball close to the hole.  The majority requested for another game, and so it was decided that another game be scheduled for May 27.

To give beginners equal chance with advanced players, the Calloway system for par 3 will be used.  Game will start at 12:00 noon. Groupings will be announced later. Tournament fee will be $30.00 per player and will include steak dinner.  Member's spouses are invited to join our mini-tournament. Come and have fun.
